This is Jiashun Ye's academic blog, where I organize selected work from my learning, research, and practice. The content is organized into five sections:
Papers — In-depth studies of a small number of papers that I find worth revisiting. I usually select papers that satisfy at least one of three criteria: they introduce a reusable language, problem formulation, or computational paradigm; their core ideas can be independently derived, implemented, tested, or questioned; or understanding them provides long-term leverage for studying a broader family of methods.
Experiments — Reproductions, mechanism studies, ablations, and other experiments designed to examine specific research claims. I also record implementation details, unexpected observations, failure cases, and issues that may not be fully discussed in the original papers.
Reviews — Literature reviews developed around a specific research question. I read a group of related papers with that question in mind, then organize their problem formulations, development of ideas, common assumptions, methodological differences, and remaining open problems.
Projects — Records of research and engineering projects I have worked on, including how the problem was formulated, why particular technical directions were chosen, what experiments were conducted, what failed or changed along the way, and what I learned from the process.
Foundations — Notes on mathematical and technical foundations that I expect to reuse across different research problems, including topics in mathematics, probability, optimization, control, state estimation, and machine learning.
The Chinese site is the main space where I develop and revise my writing. It also contains monthly notes for ongoing reading, questions, and early ideas. The English site focuses on more mature and selected material, so the two sites are not updated in sync. English articles are not sentence-by-sentence translations either. Once a Chinese article has gone through enough revision and its main ideas have become relatively stable, I may reorganize and rewrite it in English with a structure and exposition better suited to English technical writing.
